About Banana Studio

Banana Studio is the success story of Shaurya Mehrotra, a young potter and artist with Downs Syndrome. It is a space that nurtures his creativity and gives him opportunities to interact with the community at large.

Banana –  बनाना  means : “to make, to build , to construct” : a happy fruit yellow in color, synonymous with fun time and creativity, all that you can expect in our studio space because this is where …

हम कुछ बनाते है, दिल से....

The philosophy of Banana Studio is to let your imagination soar free in a world of form and colour, create vivid imagery that resonates the heart and brings joy to the soul.

Studio At a Glance

Designed exquisitely by Shaurya's friend Shradha Bhandari, a leading architect from India now based in London, the studio reflects a cool ambience with bright yet soothing colours. Eco friendly materials have been used for cupboards and furniture and tube lights with different hues add style and pizzazz to the interiors. Angled wooden beams and bright sunlight streaming from the windows allow for a pleasant and happy creative space.

What We Do

Gradually, over a period of time the studio has moved beyond being a personal space and is reaching out to include the community at large. It is a place where people can learn the basics of pottery making - hand building as well as wheel throwing under guidance. After a piece is created, it is air dried and goes into the kiln for firing and at a later stage it is glazed and fired again that completes the ceramic process. The art of decoupage is also taught upon request.
